The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has arrested a 19-year-old girl for falsifying her 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination score.

The UTME candidate identified as Rejoice Mordi was arrested at JAMB headquarters in Bwari area of Abuja, where she turned up in company of her father to lodge a complaint of getting two result slips from JAMB after increasing her score from 164 to 264.

Upon interrogation, Mordi confessed to getting the fake result from one Iyanuoluwa via Whatsapp.

She disclosed that the fake JAMB agent sent the result to her phone after collecting her registration number and that of three other candidates.

This was disclosed in a statement on JAMB’s bulletin released on Sunday, September 9.

The statement reads:-

“The 19-year-old who falsified her 2019 UTME result from 164 to 264 had petitioned us for (allegedly) giving her two results in the 2019 UTME. The board, upon receipt of the complaint, invited the candidate who appeared before the board in the company of her father, Frank Emordi.

“The Registrar, Prof Is-haq Oloyede, read the riot act to the petitioner and her father and gave them a grace period to retrace their steps, knowing that there is forensic analysis that she falsified the score.

“Upon the expiration of the opportunity, after a thorough examination of the evidence, the candidate owned up to her misdeeds. She said the agent sent the inflated result to her through a Whatsapp group which she had deleted.

“Checks by the board revealed that the candidate had made three successful attempts at checking her result. However, on the candidate’s dashboard, 164 scores still remained. She has since been handed over to security agents for further interrogation.

“The candidate’s father appealed to the registrar, saying, “I talked to her (Rejoice) and she said a guy she met at the center collected her registration number and three of her friends.

“The man was the one who forwarded the results to them through Whatsapp. If she had informed me about that, I would not have followed her to the JAMB office.”

A housewife, Talatu, on Monday, dragged her husband Nasiru Sulaiman, before a Sharia Court ll, sitting in Magajin Gari, Kaduna State, seeking legal divorce saying she has been sexually starved for five years.

Talatu, 35, who resides in Makera, Kaduna, told the court that Sulaiman denied her sex for five years.

“We have six children but he has refused to enrol them in school. I enroled them but he pulled them out, saying that I want to change their belief from his school of thoughts.

“For nine months now they have not been to school.

“The house we live in is dilapidated. It is infested by rats, He gives me only N300 to feed his seven children.

“Sometimes I go out to do menial jobs to assist the family but he accuses me of prostitution. I can’t continue living with him. I want a divorce,”

She said.

The defendant, Sulaiman, denied the allegations made his wife.

”When I left my wife was pregnant. When I came back, she told me that he had an abortion because she does not want to bear any child,”

He said.

Sulaiman admitted that he gives his wife N300 daily because he has all the foodstuffs in the house. The Judge, Murtala Nasir, ordered both parties to settle their problems amicable.

Nasir adjourned the case until Sept. 23 for report on settlement or continuation of hearing. (NAN)

The Code of Conduct Bureau has commenced verification of the N48-billion assets declared by Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde.

The CCB director in Oyo State, Bisi Atolagbe, stated this during a meeting of the South-West states’ directors of the bureau with the member representing the region on the CCB board, Prof. Samuel Ogundare.

Atolagbe said, “Work has started in the verification of the content of declaration submitted by Governor Seyi Makinde. At the right time, the report will be available. It is not about noise-making but technically doing the work to ascertain assets that are declared.

“However, I must point out that the process is not a public exercise. “The governor has not committed any crime by declaring his assets. It is just to ascertain what he has declared; to check if they are not anticipatory.”

Ogundare said there was almost 100 percent compliance to the CCB regulations by current and former public office holders in the region.

He said, “Our governors in the South-West have shown good examples in compliance. They have done what the constitution requires them to do before and after occupying an office.

Since the governors and their deputies showed good examples, almost all state lawmakers and appointees have also complied.”

Manchester United right-back Diogo Dalot has received treatment at Chinese club Shanghai SIPG for a hip injury.

The Portuguese, 20, has been sidelined since pre-season and subsequently visited Shanghai’s sports injury expert Eduardo Santos.

Santos was dubbed a “miracle-working physiotherapist” in France after helping then-PSG defender David Luiz recover from a hamstring tear in 2015.

Dalot arrived on 29 August for 10 days of treatment, Shanghai SIPG confirmed.

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said Dalot would be out of action until after the current international break.

Dalot made 23 first-team appearances in his debut season but faces competition for his place following the £50m summer acquisition of Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

A few days after declaring he wanted nothing to do with T.B. Joshua or anyone associated with him, Reno Omokri has repented for his words and vowed to “no longer publicly criticise a minister or church”.

Omokri, an adviser to former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan and frontline critic of Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, made the admission on his multiple social media accounts.

“An imperfect church is better than not going to church. Based on my introspection, I will no longer publicly criticise a minister or church that I have access to privately. In fact, I should never have done that,”

Omokri wrote.

“Love is greater than judgment. Judgment is for God and not Reno Omokri… I was wrong. I sinned. I repent,”

He continued.

Omokri faced backlash last week after responding to a question by one of his followers about the legitimacy of prominent Nigerian Pastor TB Joshua.

“I generally want nothing to do with him and I will have nothing to do with anyone connected to him,”

Reno responded.

His new statement marks a reversal to his policy of posting often-controversial social media messages targeting church doctrines or ministers.

Omokri, who also claims he is a pastor, equally made headlines months earlier for sensationally claiming Jesus was not actually God.

The Kaduna State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal on Monday upheld the election of governor Nasir El-Rufai as the winner of the March 9 governorship election in the state.

The Chairman of the three-man panel Justice Ibrahim Bako in his ruling dismissed the petitioner’s suit challenging the election of governor El-Rufai for lacking in merit.

The Tribunal had concluded it’s sitting on August 19 and had fixed Monday, September 9, to pass its verdict on the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party.

The PDP and its governorship candidate in the March 9 poll, Alhaji Isah Ashiru, had petitioned the Tribunal asking it to nullify El-Rufai’s election.

The petitioners in their final written address asked the Tribunal to cancel a total of 515, 951 votes which it contended were unlawfully added to the total votes cast during the March 9 poll.

The petitioners had called 135 witnesses out of the 685 they assembled to prove the alleged massive rigging, ballot stuffing, and other irregularities during the poll as contained in their petition.

The petitioners had accused the Independent National Electoral Commission of adding 391,741 votes to El-Rufai of APC and 124, 210 unlawful votes to the PDP, through wrong or double entry on the result sheets.

But in a unanimous judgment which lasted several hours, the Tribunal ruled in favor of El-Rufai, declaring that the petitioners failed to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that there was a massive irregularity in that election as alleged before the Tribunal.

Justice Bako also said that the petitioner, who is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Isah Ashiru did not provide any factual proof that the Independent National Electoral Commission was wrong in returning Governor El-Rufai of the All Progressives Congress as duly elected.

The Chairman, therefore, dismissed the petitioner’s suit challenging the election of the governor for lacking in merit.

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party’s Chairman in Kaduna State, Mr. Hassan Hyat indicated that his party would appeal the Tribunal ruling affirming governors el-Rufai’s election.

The INEC had declared governor El-Rufai as the winner of the March 9, 2019 governorship elections with 1,045,427 votes to defeat his closest rival, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Isa Ashiru, who scored 814,168.

According to a report by Punch Metro, some armed robbers numbering about seven in the earlier hours of Monday attacked the off-campus hostel of the Ibrahim Badamasi University, Lapai, Niger State.

The 25-room hostel accommodates both male and female students of the university

An eyewitness told The PUNCH, that the robbers arrived at the hostel around 1:00 a.m. and started ransacking all the rooms.

Some of the robbers were said to have stayed at the entrance of the hostel while the others went from room to room to lock up the students after which they started the raid.

It was gathered that all the cell phones of the students, laptops, cash and other valuable items were taken away by the robbers.

The robbers demanded from the female students, pieces of jewellery and expensive clothes and reportedly assaulted those who did not have the requested items.

“They operated from 1:00 a.m. till 2:00 a.m. before they left the same way they came,” said one of the students.

The student added, “It was after the robbers left that the police came.”

An unconfirmed report, however, said some of the girls were injured while others ” suffered serious shock.”

One of the information managers of the university, Baba Akote, when contacted said the institution was yet to be aware of the incident because it did not happen on the campus.

However, Police Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Abubakar, confirmed the incident, saying the police were on the trail of the robbers.

Abubakar said the incident happened outside the University Campus.

According to him, “We are already investigating the matter, we can not allow armed robbers to take over Niger State. We will do everything within our reach to bring the perpetrators to book.”

Mrs Busola Dakolo, wife of Nigeria’s inspirational singer, Timi Dakolo, has finally dragged the Founder and Senior Pastor of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA), Biodun Fatoyinbo, to court over her rape claims.

An FCT High Court in a writ of summons obtained on Monday by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) dated Sept. 6 and served on Fatoyinbo, ordered the Pastor to appear before it within 14 days of the service or judgment may be given in his absence.

“You are hereby commanded that within fourteen (14) days after the service of this writ on you, inclusive of the day of such service you do cause an appearance to be entered for you, in an action of Mrs Busola Dakolo.

“And take notice that in default the claimant may proceed, and judgment may be given in your absence,” the summon read.

NAN reports that the court may subpoena Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo, the Senior Pastor of Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC), as he has been listed among the witnesses Busola will be using to establish her case.

Busola through her lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi & Co., is seeking the order of the court to compel Fatoyinbo to publish a clearly worded apology to Busola on the front page of at least two (2) National Newspapers and two National Televisions for seven days running consecutively.

Busola Dakolo had two months ago made a shocking revelation in a detailed interview with Chude Jideonwo, a lawyer and journalist of how the Abuja-based cleric raped her as a teenager.

She claimed that Fatoyinbo had sexual intercourse with her on Sept. 23 and Sept. 26, 2002, caused her continuous emotional distress and amount to intentional infliction of emotional distress.

The viral video report had set social media and other online platforms on fire, evoking shock, backlash and criticisms from Nigerians, especially the Christian community.

It will be recalled that Pastor Fatoyinbo was detained during interrogation over the rape allegation at the Force Headquarters in Abuja in August.

He was eventually released on bail.

He had earlier boycotted the panel set up by the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) to investigate the rape allegation against him, claiming that he was advised by his lawyers not to appear.

The Anambra State governor, Willie Obiano, on Monday said corps members deployed to rural areas of the state would be paid N10,000 monthly each.

TheNation reports that, Obiano stated this while declaring close the 2019 Batch ‘B’ stream two orientation course at the Umunya in Oyi Local Government Area of the State.

He said the NYSC permanent orientation camp at Umuawulu/Mbaukwu would be completed and handed over to the management in October

He added that the handover ceremony would be part of the activities marking this year’s nation’s Independence Anniversary.

He said, “I hereby affirm that the resolve to complete the Permanent Orientation camp will be handed over to the NYSC as part of the activities marking the Independence Anniversary of Nigeria as promised”.

The governor said the perimeter fencing of the facility had been completed, while the interior and exterior painting of the place had commenced.

“My administration would not rest until every amenity required for use by the 2019 Batch ‘C’ corps members are put in place.

“Let me again assure you that when completed, the ultra-modern NYSC Permanent Orientation camp will be the best nationwide,” he said

He said a reward system had been put in place to appreciate corps members who distinguished themselves during their service year.

” We are implementing an upward review of N10,000 monthly allowance in favour of corps members in rural and difficult-to-reach areas.

“I am also directing corps members employers in the state to live up to their responsibility of accepting, nurturing and caring for NYSC members who have been placed in their employ.”

Speaking, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mr. Kehinde Aremu applauded the understanding and resilience of corps members throughout the duration of the course amidst infrastructural deficiencies.

He thanked the Anglican communion for making available its facilities for the scheme.

A total of 1,615 corps members who were inducted at the opening ceremony, completed the three-week course.

The police, on Monday arraigned a 60-year-old man, Isaac Ubogu, for allegedly defiling two sisters, aged six and three with his fingers.

The sexagenarian was brought before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on a three-count charge, bordering on sexual assault and behaving in a manner likely to cause breach of peace.

Ubogu, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Prosecuting Officer, Insp. Chinalu Uwadione, told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offences on Aug. 29 at Ike Peter Street in Ajao Estate, Lagos.

He alleged that Ubogu had used his finger to penetrate the private parts of the two sisters.

Uwadione said that the defendant had given the six-year-old N200 as bait in a bid to defile her, NAN reports

The offences, he said, contravened the provisions of Sections 168(d), 261 and 263 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 261 stipulates death sentence for offenders.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Adeola Adedayo, remanded Ubogu at Ikoyi Prisons and adjourned the matter until Sept. 11 for mention.

“In the same vein, citizens are enjoined to remain law abiding, peaceful and report any suspicions likely to inhibit public safety to appropriate authorities. Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau has appeared in a new video, reading a few lines of the first stanza of the Nigerian national anthem.

The latest video was released a little more than two months after his last in which he recited the Nigerian pledge, which he denounced as shirk – an Islamic concept of associating a partner with God and is deemed one of the greatest sins in Islam.

In the twenty-six minutes video seen by The Guardian, a visibly ageing Shekau reiterated his anti-government messages and distastes for Western influence.

He cited Dr Sanusi Iguda’s Dafin Boko and Babs Fafunwa’s History of Education in Nigeria to buttress why Muslims should reject western education because of its Judeo-Christianity roots.

Shekau denied his eyes are failing and that some of his fighters do not perform five daily prayers compulsory for Muslims.

Nigerian government and military have consistently maintained in the last two years that Boko Haram has been “degraded” or “defeated”.

The “real Boko Haram we know is defeated,” Garba Shehu, a spokesman to Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari said in July.

But an analyst at the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change Audu Bukarti said Boko Haram “remains a potent threat”.

“This video is intended to recruit fighters, funders and sympathizers,” Bukarti said. “It demonstrates that Shekau is alive and that he’s committed to his group’s ideology as always. ”

Shekau exclusively led Boko Haram until mid-2016 when the sect split into two. An AFP report said the split occurred because Shekau rejected indiscriminate targeting of civilians.

The larger and more sophisticated group is affiliated with so-called Islamic State and known as Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP). The smaller and cruder faction is led by Shekau and is called Jama’at Ahl al-Sunnah li-l-Dawah wa-l-Jihad (JAS).

There have been dozens of attacks on military bases since July, most of which have been blamed on ISWAP, or claimed by ISIS as ISWAP attacks.

The raids are part of a wider pattern of attacks in northern Borno, which the United Nations has warned is increasingly affecting civilians.

ISWAP has lately intensified its armed campaign, launching a number of major assaults on military targets in Borno and neighboring Yobe state amid signs of a takeover by more hardline leaders.

More than 27,000 people have been killed since the insurgency began in 2009, and 1.8 million people are still homeless and in need of humanitarian assistance.

Francis Alamezie Framed Me Up, Lady Accused Of Raping 14 Year Old Cries Out

Mrs. happiness Nwokocha the lady accused of sexually abusing a 14 year old boy in Lagos has dismissed the rape accusation as false and a ploy to tarnish her image and that of her family because she refused to sleep with Mr. Francis Alamezie the father of Gabriel the 14 year old boy she was accused of having an affair with.

Mrs. happiness Nwokocha a primary school teacher from Umuahia, who placed a call to The News Gazette Online said she called into our newsroom on reading the story from our site to tell her side of the story for the world to know the truth, she said there was never a time she had any amorous relationship with the said boy but rather Mr. Alamezie who hailed from Ogbaku, Mbaitoli in Imo state was making passes at her, demanding that she should sleep with him, when the pressure became too much she reported to her husband who did not believe her initially because both families had good relationship, but to prove to her husband that she was telling the truth she began to record their telephone conversations and playing it back to her husband.

Narrating her ordeal Mrs. Nwokocha who was sobbing intermittently during the telephone conversation said trouble started when her husband borrowed 100, 000 naira from Mr. Alamezie their neighbour and close family friend who resides in Adeshola Street Agodo Egbe Lagos, to make up and clear a car the husbands younger brother who lives in Europe sent to them, we needed 400, 000 naira to clear the vehicle from the ports but we had only 300.000, but unfortunately the husband couldn’t meet up with the deadline for repayment as agreed, this caused a little problem between Mr. Nwokocha and Mr. Alamezie, She said Mr. Alamezie began to make love proposals to her, promising to write off the debt and keep her on a monthly stipend of 30-40.000 naira monthly if she yield to his love request, “this I didn’t find comfortable and had to inform my husband and with the evidences of the recorded telephone conversations my husband confronted him with the evidences and this angered Mr. Alamezie the more”

“On the 20th of April precisely on Easter Saturday I went to the shop down the street in the early hours of the morning around after 6;15 am, we usually buy things from the shop which belongs to Mrs. Alamezie, Gabriel the son was in the shop as usual and I was picking up things I needed when I had a thunderous slap on my back turning back it was Mr. Alamezie and the wife shouting we have caught you in our trap today and they began to beat me up and dragged me into their compound, locked the gate and Mr. Alamezie with the help of his wife tore the gown and the short I wore inside and began to snap pictures of my unclothedness, while all these were going on, in that confusion all I did was to cry and try to defend myself from the blows Mr. Francis Alamezie and the wife was dealing on me from all corners, as he was beating me he was booing and shouting “that thing you were using to make shakara I don see am today” it was Gabriel who rushed out to call my husband who on arrival saved me from the beating, it was at that point that Mr. Francis Alamezie told my husband that they caught me trying to rape Gabriel and when my husband asked Gabriel if it was true Gabriel said it was all a lie that no such thing happened, his father shouted him down and ordered him into the house.

My husband took me home as we were contemplating on what next to do, we had knocks on our door on enquiry we were told they were police men from Area M, when we got to the station after explaining what happened the area commander ordered that he (Mr. Alamezie) be locked up till the next day, the case was transferred to the human rights department Ikeja police division where they also blamed Mr. Alamezie after listening to the recorded conversation we had, we began to suspect foul play when they yielded to Mr. Alamezie’s request to take the case to the gender department, at the gender department they told us that they will get back to us three months after we didn’t hear from them and when we enquired they kept turning us around, it was at that point that my husband contacted a lawyer who wrote a petition to Zone 2 police command, at zone 2, the IPO incharge was bitter with him after listening to our case and the recorded telephone conversation, but things took a different turn and unexplainably the AIG transferred the case back to the gender division where it is clear the police there have been compromised they gave us a date to come back for the hearing.

While talking to us Mr. Nwokocha the husband to the assaulted Mrs. happiness said he was shocked to read from the press all manner of fabrications against his wife, stating that it was all lies and that if anything like that happens he wouldn’t have been behind his wife, “I am an Umuahia man and we don’t tolerate infidelity it is ridiculous fabrications to tarnish the image of my wife and that of family but we will see to the end of it” he said.

When contacted Mr. Alamezie a building materials dealer, insisted that what he sent to the press was true and that he never made any love advances to Mrs. Happiness, when I reminded him of what he told the woman over the phone he said he was only trying to help the woman and her husband as the God father of their twins.

Veteran journalist, Azuka Jebose, who is quite known on social media as a crusader who intervenes in medical challenges, has disclosed that doctors once gave reggae musician, Majek Fashek, five years to live because of damages caused by alcohol abuse.

The former Punch columnist and writer made the statement obtained by Leakers.ng following reports that Majek has been hospitalised in a London hospital for suspected schizophrenia.

“Majek has a bad liver from years of alcoholism. I do not know how he has survived to these times,” Jebose said.

The journalist once took it upon himself to help rehabilitate the ‘Send Down the Rain’ singer.

“About 10 years ago, doctors in Atlanta warned that he (Majek) had five years to live because alcohol had damaged his liver. He cursed them out and checked out of the hospital,” he added.

Jebose recalled how he and Charles Novia alerted the public to the singer’s schizophrenia but “his manager went to the media to deny and accused us of using Majek to make money.”

Majek, born Majekodunmi Fasheke, has a history of alcohol addiction.

He has been in and out of rehabs, with flashes of recovery usually followed by a relapse.
