Tolani Otedola, the first daughter of billionaire Femi Otedola, who learnt the rudiments of music in England and has completd her education, has decided to take her music to the next level in Nigeria.

In a recent interview, she somewhat accepted that she takes advantage of her father’s name but she is trying to work hard and hopes that her music speaks for her.

In the chat with GoldMyneTV, she said, “If you want to be good at anything, you have to learn it in school or somewhere.

I have been preparing myself for the music industry. At a time, I was working, I was in the university and I was studying music too. I had to learn how to play instruments and how to write music.”

According to her, she will never take it personally if anyone who attributes her success to her father’s fame.

“If you tell me I am taking advantage of my father’s fame, I will not argue with you.

I have already accepted that people will form their own opinions about me and I don’t intend to fight it. I will try to work hard and hope that my music speaks for me.

“It’s a mistake for people to think that since we were born into a wealthy home, we don’t need to work for anything. My father takes care of us, but his money is not ours.

Parents like to support their children, but I don’t think they want us to depend on them forever. One day, my parents will not be around again and I will need to take care of myself.”

By the way, Billionaire CEO of Forte Oil, Femi Otedola, is blessed with four children, three daughters and a son.

It notable to know that his three daughters posses interests in entertainment. Florence is DJ Cuppy, Temi is a fashion entrepreneur and Tolani, is a singer.

Wike’s N200m Donation To Benue State Is Crass Stupidity – APC

The Rivers state chapter of the All Progressives Congress has said Governor Nyesom Wike’s cash donation to Benue state is a show of “crass stupidity”.

Wike had given N200m to the state during his condolence visit following killings by suspected herders on New Year’s day.

“The APC is shocked to know that whereas victims of killings and criminality in various parts of Rivers State are licking their wounds and wondering where help will come from, the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has gone to visit and donate N200 million of Rivers State to victims of killings in Benue State,” the APC said in a statement.

“We recall that beyond highly politicised visits to Omoku recently, Gov. Nyesom Wike has completely ignored killings in various parts of Rivers State, especially in the local government area of his PDP national chairman, Andoni.

“The governor has neither mentioned nor visited Ajakajak and other Andoni villages where several persons have been gruesomely killed up till January, 2017.“

Why has the governor not gone to visit victims of killings in Rivers State and donate to their welfare, but chose to travel to distant Benue State to display crass duplicity?”

American Entrepreneur, Kristina Roth, whose company was listed on Forbes’ list of fastest-growing women-run businesses in 2016, is billed open SuperShe Island in June.

This island is an exclusive resort off the coast of Finland that will serve as a luxury retreat only for women.

It is reported that there are women-only gyms, women-only taxi services and women-only social clubs, so it’s safe to say there’s an interest in man-free spaces.

“When there was a cute guy, women would put on lipstick,” she said to the New York Post. “The idea is, hey, focus on yourself — don’t try to get your hormones up.”

Kristina Roth had been initially reluctant to buy an island in Finland, she says once she saw it, she fell in love with its bucolic tranquility.

In an interview with Cosmopolitan.com, a representative stated that the island is substance-free in order to “focus on health and wellness” since “many people use these retreats as an opportunity to reset their lives,”.

It will cost a sum of US$3,500. to stay a week away from men according to report.

SuperShe Island is scheduled to open in June, and there’s a vetting process for membership that includes a Skype interview with Roth as well as references from fellow members.

“I’d like to vet the person and see that they’re well-rounded and would fit in,” she said, “but I don’t want to be elitist.”

Roth created SuperShe, a female-centric online community, as a way to influence and help guide other women embarking on their own businesses. The mantra is “friends, fun, fitness and adventure,” and the website posts inspirational videos, cooking tutorials and fitness tips to help women “discover the best version of themselves.”

Things have been slowly fizzling out and I’ve been feeling like we don’t belong together for a few months now.

I feel like if I don’t make a decision soon we will be married and I will feel this way forever. But on the other hand, getting a kidney transplant has changed my life for the better in so many ways.

I feel like staying together is the right thing to do even if I’m not in love anymore. I’ll never be able to pay her back.

I’m so torn and conflicted and feel like I have to make an impossible choice.

If I stay with her, I’ll always feel trapped and in a loveless relationship. If I break up with her, I’ll forever feel like an evil person for dumping someone who literally put their life on the line for me.

Matured Minds Only:- Do People Still Use Condoms? (18+ Only)

Hi Matured People,

This is a real case question, which I am sure you can relate with as a mature mind carrier.

Sex is never the same with condoms. No matter how thin the latex rubber might be, nothing beats the warm, silken feel of skin to skin contact.

While the fear of unwanted pregnancy or STDs has created a steady need for them, the warm, silken, feel of skin to skin contact still makes sex without condoms, a major temptation for many people.

Crazy, shy, surprised, blunt, prude, candid, are some of the likely reactions of people when asked their opinion on sex without condoms.

Please be sincere with your answers,

Do you Still use a condom?

[NL Music Career Advice] 7 Ways To Make More Money From Your Music As A Musician This 2018

$
0
0

Wouldn’t it be nice to be a full-time musician? Every musician wants to quit their day job and play music all day. Why wouldn’t you?

The problem is, music is a notoriously bad way to make money. When you’re starting out, you’ll be playing for next to nothing. You won’t have very many people buying your music. You’ll have to make some investments in opportunities, showcases, and gear.

Becoming a full-time musician is not an easy thing to do, particularly if you’re making original music. Yet, it can be done.

There are lots of ways to increase your income to the point where you are able to support yourself. Don’t get me wrong, they all require extra work and eort, but it may be worth it if you end up spending more time making music.

Here are the 7 ways to make money as a musician:

1. Teach Music Lessons

Teaching music is one of the first things that many full-time musicians turn to when they are looking to make the leap into being a full-time musician. The great thing about teaching is that it can be as much or as little work as you want it to be.

If you’re just looking for an extra $300 a month, you probably only need a few weekly students to make it work. On the other hand, if you want to replace your income completely, you could teach every night! It’s up to you.

Teaching music allows you to focus on music all day and go and teach it at night. Your nights often end early enough to go to a show or play a show afterwards.

The only drawback is that students rely on a weekly schedule. Sometimes opportunities come up and you will have to cancel lessons on short notice or leave the city for weeks at a time. You a) don’t make money when you don’t teach, and b) some students might seek out another teacher if you bail on them too often.

It’s up to you to make it work!

2. Start A Cover/Tribute Band

If you’re smart about it, you can start a cover band that will literally pay all of your rent and food in one or two gigs per month.

Two of the members of my band started a Buddy Holly tribute when they were 16, and it now makes them at least $650 per show. They play twice a month and most of their living expenses are covered. Everything else is just gravy.

The trick is to make your tribute marketable to older people who have money to pay for it and put on events that suit a tribute band. Then, you just need to make it good and start getting gigs! It also helps to have a small band. Less people = more money.

Alternatively, you can go after cover gigs on your own. I have another friend who supports career by playing three to four weekly cover gigs at restaurants. Each one pays between $200 and $250 plus a meal.

Suddenly he’s making $2,000 – $3,000 a month just o music. Not bad!

3. Do Editing Work/Engineering Work For A Studio

These days it’s pretty easy to get good at editing in Pro Tools. Pro Tools is now available for $24/month, and if you have a few microphones and an interface, you can make a lot of music to gain experience.

Nobody really wants to do editing work if they can avoid it; editing takes a lot of time, is not terribly creative, and is quite tedious. But if you’re good at it, you might as well make some extra money!
Make some connections at studios in your city and let them know that you have this skill set. Producers and engineers are often looking for people to do some grunt work for a few extra bucks.
If you have the skill set, engineering can also be a fun way to do something music related and make a few bucks. Engineering demo sessions, EPs, live video, and overdub sessions are good jobs to develop your skills as an engineer and make some money.

These gigs take a while to acquire because everyone wants them. The key is just to be good friends with people who work at studios and do some freelancing with your own/rented gear.

You may find yourself picking up work!

4. Sell Your Beats Online

Many hip-hop and R&B producers end up making part of their income selling beats to other artists. There are a variety of sites online you can use to sell your beats.

It takes a while to become well-known enough to make a living selling beats, but it can happen! The best way to do it is simply to make a lot of music.

5. Be A Side Musician For Other Bands

Most of the people I know who are full time musicians are also side musicians in other people’s bands. In fact, it’s one of the main ways I make enough money to live.

Getting these gigs is a matter of becoming part of the scene and being good at your instrument. You also need to be very “hangable” and reliable.

Learn your parts, show up to rehearsal, have fun, and get paid. It’s very fun work if you can get it!

6. Write For Music Related Publications

If you’ve got some writing chops and are involved in your local scene, you may be able to earn a few extra dollars writing for a local music blog, magazine, or column in the paper.

The only way to get this gig is to start pitching. Email the editor and pitch them your story. Give them an example of your writing and hope for the best!

7. Create A Premium Fan Club

This doesn’t work for everyone, as it can take a lot of eort to nd fans that are willing to part with their hard-earned money.

However, if you have fans that are committed enough to spend a couple bucks a month for exclusive content, it might be worth creating this service.

Premium fan clubs are rarely more than $10/month, and usually give fans access to pre-sales, behind the scenes photos and videos, new music, new videos, announcements, meet and greets, etc.

The End!!

Thanks for reading. We promise to give you more Tips.

We hope this will work for you just like it works for others.

A 32-year-old businesswoman, Adenike Bolarinwa, has urged an Agege Customary Court, Lagos, to dissolve her eight-year-old loveless marriage, citing sexual harassment and constant battering.

Adenike, an indigene of Abeokuta, Ogun, told the court on Friday there was no more love between her and the husband, Abiola Bolarinwa.

The mother of two, who resides at Obawole, Okeira in Aguda-Ogba area of Lagos, said: “My husband constantly beats me and no longer cares for me and our children.’’

The woman, who described her husband as irresponsible, said he often demanded sex amid harassment and blackmail.

“He calls me unprintable names in the presence of the children.

“My husband often makes uncomplimentary utterances about me while forcefully having sex with me; he calls me a harlot,” she said.

The petitioner accused her husband of threatening her life, adding that he had turned her into a punching bag.

“I had to run away from the house when it became unbearable.

“There was a time my husband beat me severely and l was in coma for three days and admitted in the hospital for weeks.

“He is irresponsible, I want the court to separate us as I am no longer interested in the union.’’
She asked the court to grant the custody of their children to her.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the woman was fighting back tears in his passionate plea to the court to dissolve the marriage.

“I want to live comfortably and in peace.”

The respondent, Abiola, a surveyor, however, denied the allegations, describing his wife as wayward and arrogant.

“My wife is stubborn, rude and has no respect for me as her husband.’’

The 38-year-old husband, however, told the court: “I still love her; I do not want the marriage dissolved.

“l promise to resolve whatever disagreement and conflicts we are facing.”

The court’s President, Mrs Ibironke Elabor, who advised the estranged couple to keep the peace, adjourned the case until March 1 for the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) to take over the case.

The Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bolaji Abdullahi, has revealed why Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, was made head of the committee on restructuring.

Abdullahi, speaking on The Osasu Show, denied that El-Rufai at any time opposed restructuring and never tried to impose his ideas on the committee.

“Maybe the plan was to convert him. There is nowhere Nasir el-Rufai said he doesn’t believe in restructuring.

“What he said is that all those people talking about restructuring today don’t even know what it means and that these people were merely opportunistic. And that they were just trying to exploit the public sentiments for restructuring to promote their political agenda.

“And I must say to his credit that he never in anyway at any point in the course of our work impose his sentiment, opinion or idea on the committee,” Abdullahi said.
