A Nigerian man who searched for a job for six years before getting one, has died in an autocrash one day before he was due to receive his first salary.

The man identified as Sylvanus Okpanachi reportedly graduated from a tertiary institution in 2013 and couldn’t find a job.

He hunted for a job for six years before he finally got employed this year. He was due to receive his very first salary on Monday, October 22.

Unfortunately, he was killed in a road accident on Sunday, October 20.

A friend who saw him last Friday, two days before his death, shared the story. He told of their last encounter and the last words Mr Okpanachi said to him.

“He is the Chief Sales Officer of his country and there is no salesman who stays in his company and expects to make greater sales.

He is the Chief Public Relations Officer and Reputation Manager of his country, again no Public Relations officer would stay back and expects any good relationships with sister countries.

“With the damage to our reputation from corruption, crime and the self afflicted injuries of PDP’s 16 years of misrule, we can’t expect the President to stay in one place and think that things will improve.

In any case what are the results of Buhari’s diplomatic forays? From China we have the Railways, Mambilla Dam and better Airports. From Germany, Siemens power interventions.

“From South Africa better protection for our citizens. From Saudi Arabia and the Middle East we have the Sukuk bond.

The list goes on. What are the benefits of such negativity other than further erosion to our name and image? This is something the President is working very hard to correct. I support him. I suggest we all do same”, the APC chieftain added.

Princewill, in a statement Thursday in Abuja, also described the takeaways from the Russian trip as “Christmas come early for Nigerians” saying with the volume of expected Russian investment in the country and its attendant creation of hundreds of thousand of jobs, Nigeria is now a preferred investment destination.

“As I scrolled down the 13 areas of agreement reached and compared it with reports from the other 4 countries that were specially invited to Sochi, it became obvious that Egypt that had a whooping 40 per cent of all Russian investment to date were about to share the same space of prominence with Nigeria as it was clear that there was a pivot to our own dear fatherland by Russia.

“Add that to the clear and present preferred destination status for the Chinese investment and you will see that the future is getting brighter.

This opportunity is a direct product of a government that has now instilled a new uncommon confidence in international investment.

“I want to congratulate President Buhari and his team for what they have achieved in Russia. Coming a few weeks to this year’s Christmas celebrations, permit me to call him Baba Christmas. The fact that the journey to a next level has already begun is now clearly obvious.

“Those who displayed their ignorance of how world trade and politics are played by going on record to say that Buhari need not go to Sochi but should instead stay at home and solve the problems of decades sitting back in the villa, must now be hiding their collective heads in shame.

To see and hear all that Mr President has achieved in Russia should impress even his harshest critics – if they have a conscience of course.

“As I scrolled down the 13 different agreements that were reached, I couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of pride at the amount of effort and teamwork that must have preceded the visit and the different areas of the country and the economy impacted by them.

My single biggest emotion though was relief. Because of the top three priorities we need as a country which are Jobs, Jobs, Jobs.

“I see millions of jobs from this visit alone. But as with so many agreements, meetings, summits and presidential visits, follow up is key.
With a new cabinet that has results to deliver and a more collaborative legislature however, I see few challenges to a positive outcome,” he added.

Princewill spoke of the numerous agreements including the rehabilitation of the country’s refineries, strengthening of Nigeria’s defence capability, completion of the Ajaokuta Steel Company and many others

The police in Niger State have arrested two students of Izom Science Secondary School, Gurara Local Government Area of the state for allegedly stealing used female pants.

Also arrested for the same offence, is one Mohammed Ali, a 24 year-old tailor of State Low Cost, Lapai town, Lapai Local Government Area of the state.

Spokesman of the police command DSP Muhammad D-Inna Abubakar said the students were arrested following complaints by victims.

“Acting on the complaints, our operatives of Kaffin-Koro Division arrested one Abubakar Sadiq aged 18 and Ephraim Isaiah, 19, both students of Izom Science Secondary, Gurara LGA in connection with stealing pants,” he explained.

He said the command became concerned because of the rising cases of the offence, adding that investigation showed that the culprits have clients waiting to buy the stolen pants.

The PPRO said one of the suspects, Mohammed Ali, mentioned one Malam Madaji Yabajeko of Agaie Local Government Area, who is at large, as the receiver of the pants.

Mohammed told newsmen that he had stolen three pants at different locations in the area, adding that he was on the verge of stealing another after gaining access through a broken window when a lady raised an alarm.

The command also paraded one Daniel Timothy Olamide, 32, who allegedly specialized in forging the State College of Education certificates for interested buyers at N14,000 each.

The suspect, who is also a graduate of the school, said he has been in the act since 2015, adding that a lady he assisted blew the whistle on him.

The command also arrested three suspected armed robbers who allegedly dressed in hijab to attack unsuspecting victims.

Russia sent two Tupolev Tu-160 bombers – the world’s biggest military aircraft – to South Africa on Wednesday as part of a defense cooperation agreement.

The two “Blackjack” bombers landed at the Waterkloof Air Force Base on the outskirts of Pretoria on Wednesday afternoon, in a rare instance of cooperation between the two countries.

“The military-to-military relations between the two countries are not solely built on struggle politics but rather on fostering mutually beneficial partnerships based on common interests,” the South African National Defence Force said in a statement.

The delivery of the bombers coincided with the Russia-Africa Summit and Economic Forum, for which leaders of 30 African countries have gathered in Sochi this week.

At the forum, Nigeria signed an agreement with Russia to purchase 12 combat helicopters.

The director of the Russia’s Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSVTS), Anatoly Punchuk, announced the deal on 12 Mi-35 helicopters in a statement, according to Sputnik.

Nigerian Foreign Minister Kalla Ankourao wanted to buy the helicopters to use in the country’s fight against Boko Haram, according to Russian media.

Nigeria, South Africa, Cameroon and Eritrea have expressed interest in buying aircraft, tanks and heavy weaponry from Russia.

This week’s forum is co-chaired by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Egyptian leader Abdel Fattah el-Sissi.

Moscow aims to sell $4 billion worth of arms to African countries in 2019.

The combined troops of 26 Task Force Brigade, 21 Special Armoured Brigade and elements of Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), have arrested two Boko Haram sect members who have been on the Nigerian Army’s most wanted list.

A statement from the Defence Headquarters released last night, says the wanted sect members, Lawan Abubakar Umar Garliga and Bayaga Manye ( on serial 41 and 90 respectively of the Nigerian Army most wanted Boko Haram list) were arrested alongside 14 others during a sting operation against the sect members hibernating around Pulka general area of Gwoza LGA, Borno State on October 20th.

The other sect members arrested during the operation include Alhaji Umaru (a Boko Haram Logistics Supplier), Goni Agwala (Boko Haram Logistics supplier), Momodu Shetene (Boko Haram Logistics Supplier and bicycles repairer), Hassan Audu (Boko Haram Logistic Supplier), Usman Manye AKA Yega ( Boko Haram Logistics supplier ), Ali Lawan (Boko Haram Logistics supplier) and Modu Mallum (Boko Haram Logistics supplier).

Others are, Modu Abubakar Jugudum, Bulama Ali, Umar Usman, Mustapha Alhaji Mele (Boko Haram Rifle man and vulcanizer), Abor Lassan, Mallum Ari and Mala Bala.

Nigerian actress Charity Nnaji, who was in the past called out by arrested Nigerian big boy, Ismalia Mustapha, popularly known as Mompha, has taken to social media to mock him again after he was arrested.

It was earlier reported that Mompha had been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly committing internet fraud and money laundering.

Charity Nnaji, who was previously called out by Mompha for begging him for money, shared a post on her Instagram page, saying that it is better to be a beggar than a fraudster.

The actress expressed that when she called him out immediately after he was arrested, his fans came after her. She noted that they would soon arrest them too for supporting Mompha, adding that she is not calling him out for clout.

An account officer, Michael Thadius, 37, on Thursday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly stealing N1.4 million and setting office ablaze.

Thadius, whose house address was not provided, was charged with arson, a threat to damage, stealing and attempted arson, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Felicia Okwori told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Sept. 25 at Sweet Sensation Office located at Olowora, Ojudu Berger, Lagos.

According to the prosecutor, Thadius stole the N1.4 million belonging to Sweet sensation Fast Food, thereafter set the financial controller’s office ablaze. She said that the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 343, 342, 344 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Chief Magistrate G.O. Anifowoshe admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100, 000 bail with two sureties in like sum. Anifowoshe ordered that the sureties must be gainfully employed, with evidence of two years of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

She adjourned the case until Nov. 20 for hearing.
